What to expect during your massage:
My technique is typically a mixture of the massage modalities I learned at Mt. Nittany School of Natural Healing to give you the most efffective session possible.  My goal is to facilitate and be an instrument for pain relief, stress reduction, and leave an improved sense of well-being.  If you would prefer to have only one modality such as a light swedish, or straight shiatsu etc... let me know before the massage and I will accommodate your request.

I work therapeutically by listening to my clients and evaluating from their input and my own assessment, where the focus should be for their massage.  You can expect as a first time client of Bodyworks Wellness Massage to fill out a short health history form with a body diagram to mark where areas of pain, stiffness etc... are.  As part of a the health and wellness industry that is having direct contact with your body and influencing all body systems, it is most ethical for massage therapists to be aware of any health issues you may have to truly be helpful and do no harm.

I'm honored to have given some folks their first massage ever and pleased when they have a good experience and come back again.  Some of these clients I've met through doing chair massage at public events.  If you are scheduling with me and haven't had a massage before, please know that if you're nervous or apprehensive, those are normal feelings.  I'm very down to earth and will meet you "where you're at".  Most people disrobe for table massage and are draped the whole time but if someone is not comfortable with that, I work over clothing as well.  I'll do everything I can to make you comfortable in the environment including things such as room temperature, music/no music, deeper/lighter pressure.  Remember, you are the customer paying for a service so I encourage you to speak up as I'd like to see you return for another massage...and another...and another.

Scope of Practice:
Professionally, I've been in practice since 2008.  This has included working out of my home massage studio in Curwensville, PA, and doing chair massage at public events such as the Elliot Park High Mountain Arts Festival, Quilter and Scrapbook retreats at Mahaffey Camp and Conference Center, Clearfield Hospital.  I've worked doing table massage at Curves for Women of Clearfield, and for the last seven years at Bethany Retreat Center during their Contemplative Prayer Retreats.

I strongly believe in the powerful results of therapeutic massage.  I am serious about and confident in my work, and offer that in a safe, nurturing environment.  That said, let me be most clear that misconduct of a sexual nature, or requests for such, woman are not welcome and are not tolerated. Jokes about happy endings berate what I do and I find it offensive.  Massage therapists who expand upon services in this way do a great disservice to the therapeutic massage industry and the purpose it holds within healthcare. If you're looking for something more than a therapeutic massage, bugger off, don't call and, leave my site now.
